Feeling Bold? Here’s How To Make Gnocchi

Surprise your friends and family with a gourmet style dinner. This recipe takes less than five ingredients and you probably already have them at home! 

HERE'S HOW TO MAKE GNOCCHI

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs of potatoes
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of all purpose flour
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Fill a large pot with water and put in the potatoes. Boil over a medium heat until the potatoes are tender (approximately 30 minutes)
  2. When ready, remove the potatoes from the water, when they are cool enough to touch carefully peel the potatoes.
  3. Take a fork and start to kind of mash the potatoes. You don’t want them completely mashed, just separated in tiny pieces without large lumps.
  4. Add the mashed potatoes into a large bowl and set aside.
  5. In a small bowl beat the egg and add the pinch of salt.
  6. Pour the egg evenly over all the potatoes. Make sure the potatoes are not hot before adding the egg.
  7. Sift a 1/2 cup of flour over the mixture. Sifting the flour is important to avoid lumps.
  8. With a spatula or a wooden spoon, combine all the ingredients. After about 1 minute of folding the mixture, add the remaining 1/2 cup of flour and keep mixing until completely integrated. You’ll end with a moist potato dough.
  9. Sprinkle some flour on a flat surface. Divide the dough into approximately 6 sections and roll each section to about 1 cm thick.
  10. Slice the rolled dough about 1 ½ – 2 cm thick to form the gnocchi.
  11. Using a fork, slightly press each gnocchi to add some texture. This is optional but they will look much more professional this way.
  12. Boil the gnocchi, and when it’s ready they will float.
  13. Serve with your favorite sauces!
