My Secrets To Packing Light

As an avid traveller myself, the problem of packing is something I have encountered many times over. Everyone knows about packing light. However, how do you actually do that?

My Secrets To Packing Light

The Basics

When it comes to clothes, neutrals and darks will become your best friends. They are easy to mix and match and they hide stains well. Embrace layering! Because you will experience various temperatures throughout your trip, layering is essential. However, leave the bulky coats behind. Pack a coat based on your destination’s climate. If you need a winter coat, pack one that is functional yet stylish; it is possible.

Avoid packing items you will only wear once. Be creative with your wardrobe. Remember, you’re packing light, so I suggest limiting your luggage’s weight to 20 pounds. I cannot stress enough how important it is to pack only what you need. And if you find you’ve forgotten something, you will come across plenty of shopping opportunities abroad.

From shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, body wash, and everything in between, that weight can add up, and before you know it, you have about 10 pounds of liquid in your bag. Therefore, I only packed travel sizes of each essential, and whatever I happened to need more of, I bought once I reach my destination.

Visas, passport, and paperwork make sure you pack all of them properly. Make sure you keep all your travel papers in a secure spot throughout your travels. The best travel tip I ever received is always have two copies of all your paperwork and keep them in different places. This has honestly been a lifesaver for me; if you lose a visa or your passport, you always have a backup.
